You tell me who it's for and what happened. I write the lyrics and the melody around that, then record it properly. Most land somewhere between three and four minutes. I've written over 300 of them.

Remember, this is your story and your song. Please give me as much detail as you can — the more I have, the more personal your song will be.
The best briefs I get are not the well written ones. They are the specific ones. Names, places, the daft thing that happened on holiday, what she says when she is annoyed, the dog. That is the stuff that makes a song sound like it could only ever have been about one person.
If you are stuck, answering these usually does it: how did you meet, what do other people always say about them, and what do you want them thinking about when the song finishes.
Do not worry about the writing. That part is my job. Just tell me what happened.
It only works once
A custom song is not something anyone can play back at you. Nobody else has it. That is the whole point of it, and it is why people keep asking me for them at funerals as often as weddings.

Questions I get asked
How much does a personalised song cost?
£250, depending on how quickly you need it. That is the whole price — one payment, nothing added afterwards, and it covers the writing, the recording and the file you keep.
How long does it take?
Usually about a fortnight from the point I have your brief. If you are up against a date there is a faster option that turns it round in five days.
If your date is tight, message me before you order and I will tell you straight whether I can make it.
I am not good with words. Does that matter?
Not even slightly. The best briefs I get are not the well written ones, they are the specific ones. Names, places, the daft thing that happened on holiday, what she says when she is annoyed, the dog.

Can you write a song for a funeral?
Yes, and I am asked for them about as often as I am asked for wedding songs. A memorial song is usually the hardest brief to write and the one people are most glad they asked for.
Take as long as you need over the brief. If it is easier to tell me on the phone than to type it, say so and I will ring you.
What do I actually get?
An audio file you download, usually between three and four minutes long, recorded properly in a studio rather than on a phone. Nothing is posted to you.
You get a private link by email. Save the file to your own device so it is there on the day, whatever the wifi is doing at the venue.
Can I play it at my wedding, or put it on social media?
Yes to both. You get a permanent licence to use the song for personal, non-commercial things: play it at the wedding, share it with family, post it on your own accounts.
What it does not cover is selling it or putting it on Spotify under your own name. If you want that, email me — it is usually possible, it is just a separate conversation.
Will anyone else hear what I send you?
No. I read the brief, I write your song from it, and that is where it stops. I do not publish anyone's story or their song without asking them first, and a no is a no.
Who is actually writing it?
Me. I have been writing and performing since 2013, charted in the top 100 with a single, sold out tours around the UK, and written over 300 custom songs for people. Emails come to me as well — there is no support desk.
